Irish Bands or Artists in Honor of St Paddy's Day

"The Streets Have No Name" by U2 - One of my favorite bands Irish or not. This song has such an energy to it. It raises and falls. Here's some lyrics " I want to feel sunshine on my face, I see the dust cloud disappear."

"Teenage Kicks" by The Undertones - This song is from Steve's suggestion. Here are some lyrics,"I wanna hold her wanna hold her tight, got teenage kicks right through the night."

"Brown-Eyed Girl by Van Morrison" - Everyone has heard this song, it's a standard. What a fun, pop-y song. Here's some lyrics, "With the transistor radio, standing in the sunlight laughing, my brown-eyed girl."

"Nothing Compares to You" by Sinead O'Connor - I didn't know this but this song was written after her son died. Now the song makes more sense to me. Here's some lyrics, "I said nothing can take away the blues cause nothing compares, nothing compares to you."

"The Boys are Back in Town" by Thin Lizzy - This great rockin' 70's Irish band had a huge hit with this 1976 song. Rock out to these lyrics, " You know the chick that used to dance a lot, every night she'd be on the floor shaking what she's got."

"Dirty Old Town" by The Pogues - This is actually an English band but they play cool rockin' Irish music. Here's some lyrics, "I met my love, by the gas works wall, Dreamed a dream, by the old canal, I kissed a girl." This song makes you want to do a jig.

"I Don't like Mondays" by the Boomtown Rats - This song was a big hit in 1979 with lead singer Bob Geldof. Here's some lyrics, "The silicon chip inside her head, gets switched to overload. And nobody's gonna go to school today. She's gonna make them stay at home.

"In A Lifetime" by Clannad and Bono - This is a beautiful song with Clannad and Bono. Here are some lyrics, "And as the rain it falls, Begin again Heavy in my heart, As the storm breaks through, Believe the light in you. Very pretty lyrics too.

"Stars Go Blue" by The Coors and Bono again - This is a pretty song that is actually written by Ryan Adams. Here are some lyrics, "Laughing with your pretty mouth, Laughing with your broken eyes. I'll follow you, when the stars go blue."

"I Know My Love" by The Chieftians - Some more Celtic music to enjoy. Here's some lyrics, "I know my love by his way of walking...by his way of talking."
